The nutrient-rich waters of the Gulf of Maine draw finback, minke, and humpback whales from June through October. Multiple operators run daily tours from Bar Harbor pier.

Paddle Frenchman Bay, explore sea caves, and watch harbor seals haul out on the islands. Guided tours and kayak rentals available for all skill levels.
May–October
At low tide, a gravel bar emerges connecting Bar Harbor to Bar Island. Walk across, explore the forested island, and watch the tide chart — it covers in about 3 hours.

Wildwood Stables offers guided horse-drawn carriage rides on Rockefeller's historic carriage roads — the same way Acadia was explored in the 1920s.
June–Columbus Day
The rocky intertidal zones around Acadia are teeming with sea stars, urchins, periwinkles, and anemones. Ship Harbor and Pretty Marsh are excellent spots.

Cottage Street and Main Street are lined with galleries, boutiques, ice cream shops, and outfitters. The Village Green hosts summer concerts and farmers markets.
